Savi's Workshop reservation alerts
A hidden workshop in Black Spire Outpost where you assemble a custom lightsaber from scratch, guided through a short ceremony by the Gatherers. Savi's takes a handful of builders per session, so slots are among the hardest bookings at Walt Disney World.

Building a lightsaber in Black Spire Outpost
Savi's Workshop – Handbuilt Lightsabers is tucked behind a scrap-metal storefront in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, presented as a secret gathering of collectors who have kept the old traditions alive. You are there to build a lightsaber yourself, not to watch someone else do it.
The session runs roughly twenty minutes and ends with your completed saber ignited for the first time, which is the moment everyone remembers.
How the experience works
You choose one of four themes — Peace and Justice, Power and Control, Elemental Nature, or Protection and Defense — and then select the hilt parts that go with it. Kyber crystal color is picked separately.
One builder per reservation, though a small number of guests can accompany you into the room to watch.
Why Savi's Workshop sells out
Each session takes only a few builders at a time, so daily capacity is genuinely small compared with a restaurant. Combined with how well known the experience has become, slots disappear almost immediately once they are released.
Taking a lightsaber home
The saber you build is full length and comes home with you, which is a practical consideration people rarely think about until they are holding one. It disassembles into a carry case, and Disney will help you get it packed.
Worth planning for if you are flying, particularly with hand luggage. It does not change how hard the booking is, but it is the detail that most often surprises people afterwards.
Catching a returned slot
Cancellations do happen, particularly as trips get rearranged closer to the date, and they go back into the system as ordinary availability.
Park Drop watches Savi's Workshop around the clock and alerts you the moment a slot returns. It is one of several bookings covered in Disney Enchanting Extras: What they are and how to book them.
Savi's Workshop reservation FAQs
Do I need a park ticket for Savi's Workshop?
Yes. Savi's Workshop is inside Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disney's Hollywood Studios, so you need valid park admission for that day.
Why is Savi's Workshop so hard to book?
Each session only takes a small number of builders, so daily capacity is very limited. Slots typically go within moments of being released.
How long does the experience take?
Around twenty minutes for the build itself, plus time either side for check-in and collecting your saber and carrying case.
Can other people watch me build?
Yes, a small number of guests can come into the room with you, but only the person with the reservation builds a saber.
Do cancellations for Savi's Workshop really appear?
They do. Plans shift as trips get closer and slots return to the system, but they are usually taken again quickly, which is why an alert helps.
Can you take the Savi’s Workshop lightsaber home?
Yes, that is the point of it. The saber is full length and comes apart into a carry case for transport, which is worth planning for if you are flying home rather than driving. Cast members will help you pack it before you leave the workshop.
