Donald's Dining Safari

Tusker House hosts Donald Duck, Daisy, Mickey and Goofy in safari clothing, moving between tables throughout the meal. It is one of the few character experiences at Animal Kingdom and by some distance the most popular.

The setting is the Harambe marketplace, dressed as an African village hall with painted wooden beams and market stalls.

African-inspired food, served as a buffet

The buffet blends familiar favorites with African-inspired dishes — spiced roasted meats, curries, couscous salads and jollof-style rice.

It suits mixed groups well, since cautious eaters and adventurous ones can each fill a plate their own way.

Why Tusker House books out

Character dining is among the first things families book for a Disney trip, and Animal Kingdom has few alternatives. Breakfast slots go first, particularly early ones that fit around rope drop for the safari.

Tusker House holds a position no other restaurant in the park does: It is the only character dining at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Every family wanting characters on that park day has exactly one option.

That concentration is why it books out well ahead of restaurants with comparable capacity elsewhere. There is no second choice to absorb the overflow.

If you do not need the characters, Tiffins on Discovery Island is the park’s signature restaurant and a calmer meal.
